Dryer Public Beach Access
The Dryer Avenue Public Beach access was repaired this fall by our Public Works Department! The path was leveled and new gravel installed and stairs have been constructed to the beach. The new wooden bridge links a walkway and a pair of benches, providing a view of the bay and sunsets. OTDA would like to install a small plaque on the benches in honor of Harry and Mary Toulmin, long term advocates for the beach access. OTDA has been an advocate for developing a "Bay Trail" to link our bay access points and for creating a plan for connectivity within the neighborhood. With the completion of sidewalks on Captain O'Neal, the construction of a pedestrian bridge at the S-curve, work on a May Day Park boardwalk and the completion of Dryer Avenue Beach Access our goal is almost complete! Belrose Avenue remains the last access in need of renovations. Please take time to compete our April 2006 beach access survey and let us know what improvements you feel could be made. OTDA would like to work with the City on a Belrose project!
